Packer and Assembler Job Description

Assemblers and packers can be two different jobs, but the duties of both jobs are often combined into one role because the responsibilities of both jobs go hand-in-hand with getting packages shipped to customers.

Simply put, assemblers are responsible for assembling products according to specifications, while packers carefully package the assembled products for shipment. Depending on the type of products being assembled, some assembler jobs may require special certifications, particularly if the job requires using heavy machinery.

Other assembler and packer duties include:

Conducting quality control (QC) checks on all assembled products
Performing preventative maintenance checks on all assembly equipment
Managing parts inventory and ordering parts as needed
Packaging products in accordance with size and weight restrictions
Creating labels and invoices for outgoing shipments
